Slapstick Saturday: Baby you were born, to be endeavored

SummerSlam is right around the corner -- one of the big four pay-per-view (PPV) events -- if we can even call it that in this new era of the WWE Network. Regardless, this is one show fans usually order along with Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, and WrestleMania, so expect it to be good.

What humorous vignettes will run to get us amped for this year's show?

That remains to be seen, but if and when we do get an assortment of video packages -- ones that don't include Brock Lesnar grunting at John Cena -- be sure to take a head count, as you never know which superstar will be around the following year or two.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

CM Punk was WWE champion, the Funkadactyls did not EXPLODE, and Rosa Mendes was still sober (we think). In addition, Curt Hawkins had yet to be endeavored, Tyler Reks was not retired, David Otunga was still drinking coffee, and Daniel Bryan had no hair.

But we also had no Shield and no Wyatt Family, so I wouldn't change a thing.
