WWE SummerSlam 2014 match card, rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the SummerSlam show set to take place on Sun., Aug. 17, 2014, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. This will mark the sixth year in the a row the so-called "biggest part of the summer" will take place at the this venue and the company is doing what it can to load up the line up.

We're just two weeks out from showtime and multiple matches are now official for the show.

- John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar (WWE world heavyweight championship)

When Roman Reigns thwarted Triple H's plan to award the next title shot to Randy Orton, Paul Heyman strategically took advantage of the situation and Brock Lesnar became the chosen one. Cena's reaction to this has been a mixture of fear and impassioned resolve.

- Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella

After slapping Brie during a Raw show where she was simply a paying fan, Stephanie was arrested. Brie agreed to drop the charges in exchange for her job back and a match with McMahon. She got it.

- Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt

Jericho won the first match at Battleground but after realizing The Wyatt Family had no plans to leave him alone, he asked for yet another match. It was granted.

- Rusev vs. Jack Swagger (Flag match)

Well, it's Russia vs. America and because the two are so fond of waving gigantic flags around, it only makes sense to have a Flag match.

- Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins*

It's not official yet but it's quite obviously where they're headed, which makes it curious why exactly it hasn't gone official with only two weeks until showtime.

- Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton*

Not official but Orton laid down the challenge on this past Friday night's episode of SmackDown. Reigns is expected to respond, and accept, on Raw tomorrow night.

- AJ Lee vs. Paige* (Divas championship)

Not official as of now. This feud restarted when Lee returned from hiatus last month. The latest development? AJ did a stretcher job on SmackDown this past week.

- The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler* (Intercontinental championship)

Not official and just a rumor for now but it's the direction they've been going on TV. Ziggler defeated Miz clean in a non-title match and Miz has been ruining Dolph's matches ever since.

A pre-show match could be added and there are rumors of a Fatal 4-Way tag team title match.

That's the card so far, folks. You buying?
