Rumor Roundup (Aug. 22, 2014): Brock Lesnar, Bella feud, Rey Mysterio, Bully Ray, more!

Alberto E. Rodriguez

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it's just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • Brock Lesnar apparently filmed segments backstage at Raw this past Monday night for upcoming shows he's not scheduled to appear on. We may not see him again until the Night of Champions go home show but that could always change.
  • Apparently the folks who make Total Divas wanted the Bella twins to feud for the show. It's unclear if that played any part in WWE booking Nikki to turn heel on Brie at SummerSlam but it's at least a possibility.
  • The situation with Rey Mysterio continues to intrigue. Rumors floating around include his having a conversation with Triple H when his contract was going to expire and the two sides agreeing to part ways. Then, later, Vince McMahon decided to invoke the clause in his contract that renewed it for one year. Right now, the two sides are at a standstill and AAA is using the situation to position WWE as a racist company that won't let Mysterio leave to work for them. That's in addition to the Alberto Del Rio situation, and he's already appeared for AAA and cut a promo on said racism.
  • It looks like El Torito and Hornswoggle will now be paired up as a comedy tag team. This is apparently being done to keep Hornswoggle on TV in a babyface role for the upcoming release of the new Leprechaun movie he's starring in.
  • Bully Ray's contract with TNA is rumored to expire this weekend. Negotiations are ongoing but he would be free to try to make a deal with any other suitors at that time. A WWE return seems unlikely considering his age and the fact that he would no longer be a big fish in a little pond. Plus, there are still folks within WWE (like Randy Orton) who probably wouldn't be big fans of his coming back.

If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you'd like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it.
