Ahmed Johnson's Cageside Evaluation

His name is Ahmed Johnson and Cageside Seats readers have reported back on what they love and loathe about the former WWE IC Champion. Here's the full evaluation.

What you loved:

  1. Pearl River Plunge - Great name and an awesome finisher.
  2. Hoss - Solid agility and crazy strong, the guy power-slammed Yokozuna.
  3. History - He has the honor of being the first African-American to hold a singles' title in the WWE.
  4. The Nation - An interesting feud where one guy was booked against a whole stable.
  5. Over - In 1996 Ahmed was one of the more popular acts in the company, really over as a face during this time.

Best comment comes via jwhammond:

"Everything about him was simple, unadorned…but VERY effective. The man was a powerhouse, and I love the powerhouse wrestlers."

What you loathed:

  1. Promos - Not exactly a wordsmith, Ahmed was pretty tough to understand.
  2. Injuries - These plagued him throughout his career and brought a sooner than expected retirement.
  3. Potential - He had a lot going for him at his peak, enough that some of you felt he could have won the WWE Title. Oh what could have been...
  4. WCW Run - He had a two year run with WCW from 1999-2000, and did, well, nothing memorable. Eventually being released due to weight issues.
  5. Pads - "Yo dawg, I heard you like pads..."

Best comment comes via Duke Phillips:

"In one of my first ever smark moments, there was a point when I realized 'oh shit, they don’t know what the hell to do with this guy.'"

On to the poll! With 149 votes Ahmed Johnson's average score is 3.

Thanks, Cagesiders! Tomorrow is recap day with updated poll scores and the best comments of the week.

Until then!
