WWE Battleground 2014 match card, rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Battleground show set to take place on Sun., July 20, 2014, at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. This will be the second event using that name, with the first coming in October of last year. This will be an annual showcase in July each year moving forward.

We're just two weeks out from showtime and two matches are now official for the card.

- John Cena vs. Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton vs. Kane (WWE world heavyweight championship)

This was booked by Triple H in response to Cena popping his mouth off to The Authority. The explanation for putting Reigns into the match, which wouldn't make sense on the surface, was simply to stack the odds against Cena even further. Well, you know what that means.

- Intercontinental championship battle royal

This was made necessary when it was learned Bad News Barrett would need surgery on his injured shoulder and he was subsequently stripped of the title. So far there are 11 participants in the match:

Cesaro
Kofi Kingston
Damien Sandow
The Great Khali
Rob Van Dam
Dolph Ziggler
Big E
Ryback
Curtis Axel
Alberto Del Rio
Bo Dallas

- Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose*

Just a rumor right now but this feud is ongoing and it wouldn't be a surprise if they ran this match here without any special stipulation, then did the rematch at SummerSlam with the briefcase on the line.

- Rusev vs. Jack Swagger*

Also just a rumor but also the clear direction. It makes sense, considering the Russian invader taking on the Real American and what not. Zeb Colter still needs to cut a promo to fully turn babyface, but whatever.

That's the card as it stands now (and may stand later), Cagesiders. Your thoughts?
