With all this TNA/Viacom and WWE financial news, we almost forgot about the man called Sting.
Not everyone has, though, and The Wrestling Observer reports that he will be in Los Angeles the weekend of August 17, 2014 - which astute readers will recognize as the date of WWE's SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) in the city of angels.
The report is quick to point out that the Stinger does not have an active talent deal in place with the company and will therefore most likely not be participating or appearing on the Sunday evening show at Staples Center. So, he will most likely be with the company in a capacity similar to his recent San Diego Comic-Con appearance where he was operating under his licensing deals for toys and video games.
BUT, the omnipresent sources within WWE told the Observer that there is hope they can get a talent deal signed by SummerSlam. The feeling is that he has more buzz surrounding his partnership with the company than The Ultimate Warrior did at this same time last year under similar circumstances, and Vince McMahon and team want to capitalize on that.
Will we see a trenchcoat clad figure descend from the rafters at SummerSlam, Cagesiders?
