Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • There were rumors flying around after Jim Ross mentioned wanting to commentate New Japan shows with CM Punk. It seems as though New Japan isn't going for it, even if it was just something Ross threw out there as a fantasy scenario.
  • Apparently WWE has ordered all new belts so each of them will have the new logo that will be going into effect on all properties soon. It's also still being said that John Cena handing off the Big Gold Belt to Ric Flair was the retirement of that belt, but that it was symbolic. So Cena still has it but he might drop it when the new belt with the new logo comes in and use only the WWE title moving forward. Maybe. We'll see.
  • Ric Flair was brought back in for Monday Night Raw this past week with the idea that he would become a character on the show used fairly regularly going forward. Then they couldn't come up with anything for him and he didn't work the SmackDown taping he was scheduled for the next night. He wouldn't fit with The Miz now that he's working the Hollywood heel gimmick and, for whatever reason, even though Flair has expressly stated his desire to do so, they won't pair him with Dolph Ziggler.
  • Rusev vs. Jack Swagger in a Flag match is on the table for SummerSlam. With heat dying out fairly quick on the Malaysian Airlines controversy, it looks like they'll see this feud through to its conclusion.
  • Josh Matthews could be signing with TNA soon. Don't be surprised if he debuts at the next set of tapings in New York City early next month.

If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you'd like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it.
