WWE Battleground 2014 match card, rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Battleground show set to take place on Sun., July 20, 2014, at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. This will be the second event using that name, with the first coming in October of last year. This will be an annual showcase in July each year moving forward.

We're just one week out from showtime and the card is almost complete.

- John Cena vs. Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton vs. Kane (WWE world heavyweight championship)

The Authority booked this match to both bring the WWE world heavyweight championship back into their control and to pit Reigns and Cena against each other. It's become obvious Reigns is the future, but it doesn't look like he'll be the present. There's other business to take care of before all that.

- Intercontinental championship battle royal

With Bad News Barrett out injured, recovering from shoulder surgery, a new champion will be crowned in a battle royal with the following participants: Rob Van Dam, Damien Sandow, Alberto Del Rio, Fandango, Ryback, Curtis Axel, Big E, Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro, Bo Dallas, Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, Great Khali

- AJ Lee vs. Paige (Divas championship)

When AJ made her long awaited return to WWE on Raw and promptly won the Divas championship back from Paige, this match became a certainty.

- The Usos vs. The Wyatt Family (Tag team championships)

Because they've done a series of matches already, this one will have a special stipulation: 2-out-of-3 Falls.

- Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt

Two weeks ago, Jericho returned to WWE on Raw and was immediately attacked by The Wyatt Family, presumably because he came back to "save us" and Bray didn't take too kindly to that.

- Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins

Because we need to be sports entertained.

- Rusev vs. Jack Swagger*

This one is just a rumor but it's the direction WWE was going before they went north of the border to run shows in Canada and were forced to leave Swagger back home thanks to previous issues with a DUI arrest. It's expected they'll return to the feud now that they're back in the States and this should be announced soon.

That's the card, Cagesiders. Your thoughts?
