Barry Horowitz's Cageside Evaluation

His name is Barry Horowitz and Cageside Seats readers have reported back on what they love and loathe about one of the greatest jobbers ever. Here's the full evaluation.

WWE.com

What you loved:

  1. Top Jobber - The gold standard for those who consistently lose. He was a true workhorse that took a beating every single night.
  2. Jewish Roots - As kids, some of you mentioned being very proud to have him in the world of pro wrestling.
  3. "Horowitz Wins!" - After being in WWE for years he was finally given a push in which he beat BodyDonna Skip, Jim Ross (of course) made that classic call. They had a rematch at SummerSlam and Horowitz actually won again!

Best comment comes via thehobodownthestreet:

"Is it rational to give a jobber, a 5? Hell no, but when has that stop any of the evaluations, before? Back when I was a kid, I would see the great Barry, and I knew, I knew he was going to get his ass kicked from one end of the ring to the other. And it was comforting, is like growing up in a dump, the place may be a dumb, but its your dump. Barry Horowitz may be just a jobber, but damn it, he is the jobber of my childhood. I’m not sure how many fives I voted, but I know there have been very few, I know I gave Terry Funk a five, cause he is the greatest ever, and Mr. Horowitz, in my eyes, you are in the same class as the greatest ever, Mr. Funk. In all honesty, if I met Mr. Horowitz today, he would be one of a handful of wrestlers I would mark out for."

What you loathed:

  1. Loser - Even in a scripted world where no one is winning or losing on their own athletic merit, it must have hurt to be made to do job after job after job after job. That ego was undoubtedly perpetually bruised.

That was it for trends, though there were a couple other mentions: The "hand" on his vest was reversed, WWE played up his Jewish heritage a bit too much, and he hasn't been out with 3MB.

Best comment comes from Blinkocracy:

"A shlmiel is someone who spills soup on someone at a party. A shlmazel is the one he spills the soup on. Barry Horowitz was portrayed as both a shlmiel and a shlmazel."

On to the poll! With 80 votes, Barry Horowitz's average score is 3.3.

Thanks, Cagesiders! Tomorrow is recap day with updated poll scores and best comments of the week.

Until then!
