For many fans, reading about rumors -- and trawling the sites that traffic in them -- has become as popular as watching the matches themselves. In this daily column, we take a look at the biggest rumors and weirdest stories being churned out by those pro wrestling "news" sites.
Important reminders: Rumors are "rumors" and not "news" for a reason, folks. That which has not been confirmed as legitimate news or fact will be made clear.
Rumors of the Day:
- Although he is getting reactions like one, WWE is not playing on turning Bray Wyatt face anytime soon. It seems as though they've decided to simply keep doing what they've been doing and continue in the direction he's been going, which is "over", while hoping for the best. And while they are aware that having Wyatt sing-a-long time make him feel like a good guy, there aren't plans to get him to stop in order to get a more negative reaction for him. It also appears like he won't be disciplined for accidentally injuring Cena with an eye poke.
- There was a flood of Shield news, mostly surrounding the plans for Seth Rollins going forward. It looks like he'll be getting new gear to go along with his new theme song, and is not a member of Evolution, which is supposedly on hiatus now that Batista has left. It also seems as though there was never any intention of turning Dean Ambrose heel instead of Rollins, which had been speculated. And it also appears that there will not be a new member of the Shield added to the group despite hints to the contrary on the company's website.
- In "Vince claps like this, Triple H claps like this" news, it looks like Triple H is very interested in building a physical Hall of Fame while Vince McMahon remains fundamentally indifferent to the prospect.
- Despite photographic evidence to the contrary, Randy Orton was not, in fact, on vacation this past Monday and was instead recovering from a collarbone injury. He will apparently be fine and should be back in time for Monday's Raw in Cleveland but was given the night off just to be safe.
- Dish and DirecTV will not be carrying the Money in the Bank PPV, but are still leaving the option of carrying future shows open. It still remains to be seen if either will carry SummerSlam, the company's third biggest card of the year.
- Speculation regarding a possible split-title finish during the Money in the Bank WWE world heavyweight championship match where one performer grabs the WWE title and another the world title is being referred to as a highly unlikely or flat out "not happening" according to people backstage. It also appears that any chance of a Daniel Bryan surprise appearance to reclaim his title are somewhere between slim and none with the way his neck is healing.
