WWE Payback 2014 results: Bad News Barrett beats Rob Van Dam, retains Intercontinental title

Gallo Images

Bad News Barrett successfully defended the Intercontinental championship against "Beat the Clock Challenge" winner Rob Van Dam at tonight's (Sun., June 1, 2014) WWE Payback pay-per-view (PPV) at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

It was a decent match but nothing particularly special.

Late, Rob Van Dam missed the Five Star Frog Splash only to duck out of the way of a Bullhammer into a roll up attempt. That couldn't get the pin and Barrett hit Winds of Change shortly thereafter. A split legged moonsault was countered with knees to the gut and the Bullhammer came just after to give Barrett the pin.

As expected, he is still Intercontinental champion and RVD is still putting guys over before heading back out on another vacation. Or, as Barrett's bad news mentioned, "a permanent summer vacation".

That doesn't really sound like a bad thing.
