WWE suggests five awesome Clash of the Champions matches

Now that every episode of the WCW show is available for streaming on WWE Network.

In their quest to continue adding new content to the Network, WWE has added all thirty-five episodes of WCW Clash of the Champions to the streaming service.

The show was a pre-cursor to the Monday night War that would rage between WCW and WWF/E in the late 90s, when NWA/WCW promotor Jim Crockett, Jr. created Clash of the Champions as counter-programming that would air for free at the same time that Vince McMahon was selling WrestleMania IV on pay-per-view (PPV). While not every episode of Clash aired opposite a WWE/F PPV, it remained the companies free "super-card" throughout its existence.

Here are WWE's suggestions for the first bouts to watch in the series:

  1. Sting vs Ric Flair from the very first CotC on March 27, 1988.
  2. Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat in a two-out-of-three falls match for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship from CotC VI on April 2, 1989.
  3. Steamboat vs. Stunning Steve Austin for the WCW United States Championship at CotC XXVIII on August 24, 1994
  4. Flair & Arn Anderson vs. The Hollywood Blondes (Austin & Brian Pillman) in a two-out-of-three falls match for the NWA & WCW World Tag Team Championships at CotC XXIII on June 16, 1993
  5. Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Dean Malenko for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship at CotC XXXIII on August 15, 1996

Any of you hardcore WCW fans want to suggest some others for folks looking to binge watch some southern rasslin' on WWE Network?
