Although it's likely another match or two will be added at the last minute as unannounced treats, the upcoming WWE Payback match card and line-up is now official with seven bouts scheduled for the pay-per-view (PPV) set to take place this Sun., June 1, 2014, at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
Here's what we're getting:
- Daniel Bryan's decision
Not a match, of course, but a major angle WWE is using to help sell the Network. Bryan will decide to either relinquish the WWE world heavyweight title or have his wife, Brie Bella, fired by Stephanie McMahon, who has promised as much.
- Evolution vs. The Shield (No Holds Barred Elimination)
Very likely the last time (for now, at least, and maybe ever) Evolution will operate as a team. Batista is scheduled to go on hiatus sometime shortly after this show, either here or after Raw next week.
- John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt (Last Man Standing)
Cena continues fighting the good fight against the forces of evil.
- Paige vs. Alicia Fox (Divas championship)
Sweet but savage meets batshit insane in a match that could be the best women's bout of the past five years.
- Sheamus vs. Cesaro (U.S. championship)
HOSS FIGHT ON SUNDAY NIGHT.
- Bad News Barrett vs. Rob Van Dam (Intercontinental championship)
Just a match for the more aesthetically pleasing mid-card title. A "Beat the Clock Challenge" victory propelled RVD into this slot.
- Big E vs. Rusev (Murica)
A real American is fighting against the evil Bulgarian Brute who now resides in Russia.
- El Torito vs. Hornswoggle (Mask vs. Hair)
The only way to drag this feud on any longer was to put the bull's mask and the leprechaun's hair on the line. So here we are.
That's the card as it stands now, Cagesiders. As stated, don't be surprised if WWE adds a match or two the night of the show.
