The Superkick's Cageside Evaluation

The move is The Superkick and Cageside Seats readers have reported back on what they love and loathe about it. Here's the full evaluation.

Felipe Bascunan on Wikipedia

What you loved:

  1. Shawn Michaels - His Sweet Chin Music is legendary.
  2. Surprise Factor - It is a quick and brutal strike that can easily catch opponents by surprise. Right, Shelton?
  3. Big or Small - Anyone can use this move and, for the most part, it looks just fine.
  4. Impact - It's believable and that added thigh slap makes for a cool sound when the kick lands.
  5. Chris Adams - He is considered the innovator of the superkick.

Best comment comes via Jakattak88:

"The impact, where it can be quick and sudden or set up and still amazing. I love the fact that the superkick is the ultimate equalizer. You can have a huge guy like Luke Harper or a guy Ziggler’s size busting it out without thinking "Man, this guy shouldn’t be able to pull that off". And while Harper/Ziggler/the Usos to some extent don’t get finishes off the superkick, every time they hit one you think it’s going to be the end."

What you loathed:

  1. Signature Move - Now that Michaels is gone, it's not a finisher so much as a signature move.
  2. Weak Looking - If not sold right or the kick is off, it looks awful.
  3. John Cena - Because he ruins everything.
  4. Camera Angle - Too much can go wrong based solely on where the camera is positioned. What an odd thing for you Cagesiders to care about.

Best comment comes from RuinedOverOut:

"That Cena kicked out of it while Ziggler was still getting it over as a finisher, and it kind of just disappeared from his arsenal afterwards. That the Usos and ADR do it like it’s just another move in every freakin’ match while seldom getting pinfalls off of it. It’s only in the past couple years that it’s started getting the "DDT" treatment in WWE and I thought Ziggler using it as a finisher just as he was getting that big push would help save it but that fizzled out just as quickly as that big push did."

On to the poll! With 239 votes, The Superkick's average score is 4.5.

Thanks, Cagesiders! Tomorrow's pick should have been evaluated on Monday.

Until then!
