For many fans, reading about rumors -- and trawling the sites that traffic in them -- has become as popular as watching the matches themselves. In this daily column, we take a look at the biggest rumors and weirdest stories being churned out by those pro wrestling "news" sites.
Important reminders: Rumors are "rumors" and not "news" for a reason, folks. That which has not been confirmed as legitimate news or fact will be made clear.
Rumors of the Day:
- Bret Hart has apparently worked out his "scheduling" issue and will be appearing at NXT Takeover, joining his niece Natalya Neidhart at ringside for her match against Charlotte Flair. Charlotte will likely be joined by her father Ric Flair, who -- like Bret -- will be doing an interview on the event's pre-show.
- That pre-show will be hosted by Renee Young. It also will feature Christian, Antonio Cesaro and Paul Heyman.
- While TNA has hinted at bringing back the six-sided ring, most of their six-sided rings have been converted into four-sided rings at this point. It's unclear if that means they can't be converted back, or if TNA just can't afford to do so.
- In a nice bit of WWE Network news, the delay between Raw episodes appearing is now a month. It had been significantly longer under the previous deal, so it's obvious the WWE lobbied for a smaller window to be part of the deal.
- Speaking of that deal, it appears a sports network was also in the running. According to the Observer, this network was turned off by what the WWE wanted, but were interested in the idea of a wrestling show on their network. It would likely have to be Fox Sports or ESPN, as NBC Sports Network would be included under the NBC Universal umbrella. And nobody watches CBS Sports Network. - TNA gave up 25% of their office space, which was apparently being used for ShopTNA merchandise. That space was no longer needed, as most of that stuff has been moved to a separate warehouse.
