Not long after Jim Ross mentioned on his podcast, The Ross Report, that he was excited to be attending Ring of Honor (ROH)'s big Toronto show with New Japan Pro Wrestling, Global Wars (which will mark the company's return to internet pay-per-view (iPPV)) on Saturday, May 10th, ROH was quick to include it in their weekly NewsWire feature.
Now, the promotion has sent an email to members of their website promoting Ross' speaking appearance next Friday night before Global Wars in Toronto.
There's probably nothing more to it than a clever bit of cross promotion, but it sure is fun to speculate.
Would you like to see good old JR join forces with the Sinclair Broadcasting-owned ROH? Do you think Ross would consider jumping aboard a non-WWE promotion, even if it's not someone Vince McMahon and company particularly see as a competitor? If you were writing the dream scenario, would JR be a booker, talent rep, announcer or some combination of the three?
