For many fans, reading about rumors -- and trawling the sites that traffic in them -- has become as popular as watching the matches themselves. In this daily column, we take a look at the biggest rumors and weirdest stories being churned out by those pro wrestling "news" sites.
Important reminders: Rumors are "rumors" and not "news" for a reason, folks. That which has not been confirmed as legitimate news or fact will be made clear.
Rumors of the Day:
- Although WWE played up the possibility of his appearing on Monday Night Raw next week, it's not currently expected that Daniel Bryan will be at the show, at least not live and in person. WWE is in Europe for a tour right now and while it's possible he does a segment "live" via satellite, he likely won't be flying over.
- On that front, Bryan is expected out until just before SummerSlam, though a surprise return much sooner isn't being ruled out.
- Someone who will be on Raw -- and SmackDown -- next Monday is Hulk Hogan, who was added to the shows to boost ticket sales. No word on how he'll be used, but one would expect a typical promo and mostly meaningless angle.
- I have no idea what this means or in what way it could affect what we see on television but Vince McMahon is reportedly in panic mode over the reaction to various news related to WWE over the past couple days.
- Despite Roman Reigns and Randy Orton conking heads in a really bad way at a house show recently, neither were seriously injured. There was some fear that a concussion was in play but that is not the case.
- This isn't surprising in the slightest but with WWE re-upping with NBCUniversal, TNA is expected to sign a new deal to remain on Spike TV. Despite this, there are many wrestlers who aren't happy with the state of the company and its creative direction right now. One need look only to Christopher Daniels and Kazarian and the way they've been talking since their deals ran out and they weren't re-signed to see evidence of this.
