Daniel Bryan finally got the chance to get his revenge on Triple H at tonight's (Sun., April 6, 2014) WrestleMania 30 pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE Network at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The added incentive was the winner would be inserted into the WWE world heavyweight title match opposite Randy Orton and Batista in the main event.
Despite rumors and various reports, they opened the show with this match after Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, and Hulk Hogan had their moment together (read more on that here).
Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Daniel Bryan is your new main event.
Triple H got a big entrance, something like a Game of Thrones theme with slave ladies and full "King of Kings" get up. It was an impressive display. Then, Bryan came out to no grand entrance. He simply skipped his way to the ring while chanting "YES".
The match was methodical and featured great ring psychology from both wrestlers. Bryan had his shoulder taped up still selling the various injuries he's suffered over the past month and Triple H, naturally, targeted that.
Then, the two proceeded to have one hell of a pro wrestling match. My words cannot do it justice. Triple H sold his ass off and broke out every trick he knows, and even a few we didn't think he knew.
Ultimately, Bryan hit the flying knee and pinned Triple H clean in the center of the ring.
It was glorious.
After, an enraged Stephanie McMahon slapped Bryan before an even more enraged Triple H used a chair shot next to the ring posts. The assumption is this casts doubt on his status for the main event.
Stay tuned.
