The rumors of CM Punk returning to WWE, the company he walked out on all the way back on Jan. 27, 2014, the night after the Royal Rumble and just before that evening's episode of Monday Night Raw, just won't quit. Stone Cold Steve Austin's recent prediction hasn't helped, of course, but there are other factors at play here.
For starters, WWE has handled this situation different than those in power usually do. It makes no sense that a wrestler would quit and no one would say a word about it. That's not to say they should bury him like they did to Austin when he walked out back in 2002, but the fact that that has been specifically avoided has led to plenty of added speculation.
Now, here's a bit of information that is sending some into a frenzy.
Bryan Alvarez at the Wrestling Observer revealed on his latest radio show that WWE has two hotels for its various talent and executives down in New Orleans in advance of WrestleMania 30 tomorrow night (April 6, 2014) at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The first hotel houses the talent and the second houses all the top level stars and executives, and any surprises that are planned.
Well, apparently AJ Lee, the current Divas champion who just got engaged to Punk, was moved to the second hotel.
Many, including wrestlers, apparently, are under the belief this means Punk is surely coming back for some sort of angle at WrestleMania, just like Austin said he would. For whatever it's worth, "The Second City Saint" was spotted in Chicago just last night but that could have been simple misdirection.
So, the rumors will continue until the big show comes and goes, with or without Chicago's favorite son.
Deal with it, I guess.
