Tommy Dreamer's Cageside Evaluation

What you loved:

1. ECW Run - "Heart and Soul" would be the theme for this spot. His feuds, loyalty until the end, and winning over the fans all make this the peak era of Tommy Dreamer.
2. Gimmick - Started out truly hated by the fans in ECW, he eventually morphed into the "Innovator of Violence." His never die attitude was something a lot of you appreciated.
3. Company Man - Not only in ECW, but in the WWE, Tommy would do whatever his company asked of him, good or bad.
4. Nice Guy - Some personal stories today saying how nice he is, and that he really cares for the business and his fans.
5. Raven Feud - A pretty crazy feud including all those kendo stick shots he took in a short period of time. "Thank you sir, my I have another!" This feud went on for about a year, where Tommy never won a single match, until the very last one.

My favorite comment belongs to machomanager:

"I’d rather cheer a guy who started off in the worst suspenders ever but came off as real, than any spray tanned muscle man whose heart wasn’t in it."

What you loathed:

1. WWE Run - Basically from when he started until the WWECW got going up he was misused. I mean they had him "drink" Taker's tobacco spit, really? Unfortunately he was an "ECW guy" and thus he wasn't given much of a push for awhile.
2. Risky Bumps - Known to have taken tons of crazy bumps in his career. At the time they seemed cool, but hope his later quality of life isn't damaged too much. Unfortunately he's still going, and it would be nice if he let the "ECW" in him go where it belongs, in the past.
3. In-Ring - Never technically sound, his style was very much a brawler mixed with hardcore spots. Couple of you mentioned this was not your type of wrestling, and were not fans of Dreamer because of this.

"I grew up loving amateur wrestling (as well as pro) and was a very successful amateur myself. So I have a natural love for it. The guys I appreciate the most in pro wrestling are guys who are athletic beasts and/or super technical. That’s why I like Brock, Bret Hart, Benoit and some of the guys today like Cesaro and Reigns. Tommy Dreamer is not athletic or technical. I don’t care for matches that are brutal one sided squashes. It’s boring to me. I like to see awesome moves pulled off that less athletic and less technical guys can’t do. Dreamer, just like Foley, are part of the wrestling world I don’t care for."
