In the main event of tonight's (Sun., Feb. 23, 2014) WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view (PPV) at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Randy Orton put his WWE world heavyweight championship title on the line against five opponents in an Elimination Chamber match: John Cena, Sheamus, Daniel Bryan, Christian, and Cesaro.
Order of entry into the match:
- Sheamus
- Cesaro
- Daniel Bryan
- Christian
- John Cena
- Randy Orton
Order of eliminations (and who they were eliminated by):
- Sheamus (Christian)
- Christian (Daniel Bryan)
- Cesaro (John Cena)
- John Cena (Randy Orton)
- Daniel Bryan (Randy Orton)
The match was good, but not great. No eliminations occurred before all six participants were in the ring. Cesaro worked his ass off and looked great brawling with Sheamus, leading to hope that those two are put together for a program soon. Bryan, of course, worked hard.
The finish saw The Wyatt Family show up with their teleportation into the ring just as Cena was about to eliminate Orton with the STF. Bray Wyatt put down Cena with Sister Abigail before leaving and Orton made the cover for the three-count.
A "Thank you, Wyatt" chant broke out.
Kane came down to send the Wyatt clan to the back and ended up inside the cage, where he took a flying knee from Bryan. He laid there selling it for a few minutes while Bryan set up a title win with a knee. It was then that Kane stopped the referee from a three count. Orton got up to hit the RKO but Bryan kicked out.
Crowd went insane.
Bryan recovered but Kane ended up cheap shotting him into yet another RKO and that was enough to get the pin.
Now, unless anything changes in the next six weeks, Randy Orton will move on to WrestleMania 30 to defend his title against Batista in a match that will almost surely get bombed at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on April 6 in New Orleans.
