An open letter to Roman Reigns heading into Wrestlemania season

Hey Roman!

How are things? Was great to see you last night. Your entrance was timed very well, and the crowd was clearly happy to see you. Your punches are looking fiercer than ever.

Don't listen to all of the people complaining about how the match was "overbooked" (people making that claim just miss when they were able to complain about old WCW pay-per-views like "Greed" and "Sin").

Don't listen to the people that make fun of your limited offense, either. You came in hot and made a huge difference, and got a pretty massive pop from everyone in the crowd, regardless of age or gender.

When we heard you talk, though, it seemed like you were a bit out of your comfort zone. In the ring, it looked like you were really vibing off the energy of the crowd (I think that's the phrase you used) and mad a big impact.

You are a unique guy, Roman. You're athletic, strong, have the mane of a lion (that's what my girlfriend said, not me, I swear) and an impressive presence. When I see you walk to the ring, it feels like I'm watching someone important. That is a rare feeling nowadays in wrestling.

During your interview, you used a couple massively impressive dramatic pauses. Want to know how great they were? Well, the goal in wrestling is to suspend disbelief of the fans, right? Some of them thoughts you might have actually forgotten your lines! That's funny, or it's true. In the latter case, you may want to just take it easy. Your look of intensity is great, but make sure it's more "intense" looking instead of "I have to go to the bathroom really badly and am not happy about it" looking.

I want to see the Roman Reigns that has fun names for Renee Young and is comfortable, not someone who looks like he may have forgotten to exhale.

Vince even told Steve Austin that the company is about having fun. I can imagine you feel a lot of pressure as we head into Wrestlemania season. I, along with everyone else reading this, want to see you succeed. We are all rooting for you.

I, and everyone else, understands that you can make the best of whatever scenario you're put in. Hopefully, you are placed in a situation where success is easy to attain.

It's great to have you back, Roman. I can't wait to watch you toss people around the ring like they're little bulls at the Royal Rumble in January, and to see what is in store for you on the road to Wrestlemania.

All the best. TTYL.

See you around,

Matt

Personal opinion: I like wrestlers when they have purpose. A friend of mine texted me a couple months after Bray Wyatt debuted. I think it was the week before he started a program with Bryan and Punk. My friend told me he wasn't really into Wyatt, and there was no reason to.

Heading into SummerSlam, Reigns had purpose. Randy Orton was the established stud that thought Reigns was ruining everything for him. Fans wanted to see Reigns on a big stage, by himself, getting a big win. He got it. There was a story being told.

For me, I want the following questions answered in wrestling if my caring is involved, and I'm sure it's similar to a lot of you:

1. Who are you?
2. What do you want?
3. Why should I care?
4. What was your indy name?

So Roman is going to have a lot of television time and a lot of pressure put on him, I assume, over the next few months.

What do you want to see from him? More charisma? Less forced delivery? More than five offensive moves? If Cena have the five moves of doom, what are Roman's called?
