The powers that be made sure last night's NXT Takeover: R Evolution special on the WWE Network got started with a bang when Kevin Owens (the artist formerly known as Kevin Steen) made his in-ring debut against CJ Parker.
The audience at Full Sail in Orlando absolutely loved it.
This may have been Owens' first match in NXT but he's no rookie. As soon as the bell rang, he showed the world exactly what he's made of, putting his best foot forward to make the most of the few minutes he was given to make a strong first impression.
Did he ever.
That's not to say this was a squash match. Parker got some offense in and even busted Owens up with a palm strike to the nose that required stitches. The blood during the match only added to the atmosphere, though, seeing as Owens was bleeding on his fallen foe while covering him for the winning pinfall.
If nothing else, it was memorable.
Later in the evening, Owens attacked his former friend, Sami Zayn, just after Zayn won the NXT championship from Adrian Neville. His first night in and he's already going after the champion and has set up a feud that should provide countless hours of entertainment.
