WWE issues statement in response to CM Punk's statements about medical treatment he received

Amidst a ton of really disturbing statements made and stories told about WWE by CM Punk in his surprise appearance on Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling podcast yesterday, some of the most shocking - and potentially litigious - were about how injuries and recovery times were treated by the company's medical staff.

Vince McMahon and company have been silent since the audio interview dropped, which isn't terribly surprising considering it is the Thanksgiving holiday here in the United States.  But allegations of mis-diagnosing a highly contagious infection like staph, being asked to work shortly after elbow and vision surgeries, and lax concussion testing did prompt a response to us when we contacted them about as much:

WWE takes the health and wellness of its talent very seriously and has a comprehensive Talent Wellness Program that is led by one of the most well-respected physicians in the country, Dr. Joseph Maroon.

Not surprising that it doesn't specifically address any of Punk's allegations, but the fact that it doesn't traffic in details of any of their issues probably isn't going to settle anything.  It also lends credence to the idea that WWE will toe the line and hope this blows over as opposed to directly responding.

Stay tuned for more on this amazing story, including analysis from our own Keith Harris about the Wellness Program WWE references in their statement.
