Fatal 4-Way for the Tag Team Championship
Los Matadores vs. Star & Goldust (c) vs. The Usos vs. The Miz & Damien Mizdow
It's that time of the year where WWE throws all of their tag teams into one match and wishes them the best. And that's exactly what you will get at Survivor Series, as these four teams will probably deliver the best action of the night.
A lot of people seem to think that the main event is the only tag team match worth a damn at Survivor Series. Don't listen to that load of science fiction.
Here's the science fact.
Half of the main event will consist of guys like Big Show, Kane, Mark Henry, Erick Rowan, and The Ryback walking around very slowly, occasionally punching someone, and then needing to tag out due to exhaustion or injury. That may tickle the funny bone for some people, but it doesn't compare at all to the work rate that you will see in this chaotic tag team championship match.
The Usos, Los Matadores, and The Dust Brothers are all solidly above average workers who will put on a fast-paced showcase of epic proportions. When you throw in the must-see antics of Damien Mizdow and El Torito into the mix, you get a match that is guaranteed to put the main event to shame.
The Road to Survivor Series
Here's a quick summary of the context surrounding each team heading into this fight:
The Usos have failed to regain their tag team titles multiple times from Gold and Stardust yet here they are getting one more stab at it. While Jimmy and Jey have retained their clear cut babyface image, they have recently pulled Twin Magic out of their playbook in order to win a few matches against Miz and Mizdow. Is that what it will take for them to regain the gold?
Speaking of twin magic, what's to stop Los Matadores from pulling that very same stunt? Los Matadores have not competed for the tag team championships since the WrestleMania 30 pre-show. They haven't been put in the spotlight much since then, and so they will surely bring their best effort to this fight. El Torito's competence at delivering his own brand of punishment and distraction to the opposition will give them an advantage that no other team possesses.
There is a lot of buzz in particular surrounding the team of Miz and Mizdow. Damien Mizdow's popularity with the fans is increasing each week, creating feelings of jealousy from the insecure Miz. It has become quite clear that Damien Mizdow is the real star of the duo, while Miz is the wannabe star who is better suited for an understudy role. Will this friction become their undoing at Survivor Series?
Gold and Stardust are the defending tag team champions and they seem to have the Usos figured out, as they soundly defeated them inside a steel cage on Smackdown. The champs also overcame the challenge of Big Show and Mark Henry a few weeks ago, and those losers were then shipped off into the main event as a result. Nobody can beat Gold and Stardust when the titles are on the line. That's not science fiction; that's science fact.
What's at Stake?
The cosmic key hangs in the balance as these four teams attempt to steal the show. Each team brings a unique style of entertainment to the fight and there is no need to worry about this match being dragged down by over-sized immobile guys who simply can't keep up. The friendship of Miz and Mizdow might also be on the line here. Can Miz learn to share the spotlight with his stunt double in the long-term if they win the gold?
There's only one way to find out. Tune into Survivor Series and stay here at Cageside Seats to see who walks out with the gold!
