Rumor Roundup (Oct. 9, 2014): WrestleMania 31, The Rock, Brock Lesnar, Sting, more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it's just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • In addition to the Rock vs. Triple H direction that came out late yesterday, it would appear as though Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns is still scheduled for WrestleMania 31 with the WWE world heavyweight championship on the line.
  • Lesnar, by the way, is likely not coming back until January to work the Royal Rumble event. According to the Wrestling Observer, that match is likely going to be against John Cena and it's possible that someone will cost him the match and that person will be the guy Cena works with at WrestleMania 31. That could end up being Rusev.
  • WWE is also apparently operating on building WrestleMania 31 based around two special big star appearances and this year those two stars will likely be The Rock and Sting, though it's unclear what opponent Sting will have if Undertaker decides not to come back.
  • If The Rock is coming back for a match next year, it's almost certain Stone Cold Steve Austin won't be and it again appears more likely that the show to shoot for is WrestleMania 32 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys, when they try to pack 100,000 people in there.
  • Part of the reason TNA is struggling to find a new television deal is apparently due to Spike deciding not to renew despite consistently getting over one million viewers every week and Impact being one of the highest rated shows on the network. According to the Observer, Spike decided not to renew due to lack of confidence in those running TNA for all the obvious reasons, not to mention various other issues like the debacle with Vince Russo.

If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you'd like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it.
