Just this past Monday on Raw, WWE officially announced that John Cena vs. Dean Ambrose would take place at the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view scheduled for Sun., Oct. 26, 2014, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The winner would advance to the main event to face Seth Rollins in a Hell in a Cell match.
But that's not all.
Indeed, at the SmackDown taping that took place in Philadelphia last night (read full spoilers here, if you want them), it was announced by The Miz, who was hosting Miz TV with Cena and Ambrose as guests, that yet another stipulation has been added to the match. Instead of a straight up singles affair, just one pinfall or submission (or disqualification or count out) to a finish, it will be a NO HOLDS BARRED CONTRACT ON A POLE match.
We eagerly await rumors of Vince Russo's shocking return to the WWE booking team.
Early speculation suggests this bodes well for Ambrose winning the match, seeing as it avoids Cena having to take a pinfall loss. Either way, if you can think of the last "on a pole" match that didn't stink the joint out, we would love to hear about it.
In his weekly interview with Michael Cole, Triple H teased this announcement, which won't come until SmackDown airs on SyFy this Friday, with this:
"Well, you know, if something's good, why not make it better?"
I'll let you decide if they made this match better or significantly worse with this added stipulation.
