Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it's just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- As of now, WWE still plans on Brock Lesnar defeating John Cena at Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns winning the Royal Rumble match that same night, and Reigns defeating Lesnar to win the WWE world heavyweight championship at WrestleMania 31.
- Emmanuel Lemelson, the found of Lemelson Capital, made news again recently when he told Benzinga.com that he believes the McMahon family intends to sell WWE. Those rumors have circulated in the past and obviously nothing has come of them.
- It appears as though the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view will be moved to June to bolster the summer line-up, which would see Elimination Chamber, Money in the Bank, then SummerSlam. The idea is that the February PPV isn't nearly as important with the WWE Network.
- According to PW Insider, some lesser used WWE talents are apparently feeling some anxiety over their status with the company, with some fear that another round of releases could be coming soon in response to the Network subscriber number announcement.
- WWE has applied to trademark the name "Kevin Owens" and according to PW Insider, that's the name that will be used for Kevin Steen.
