WWE Hell in a Cell 2014 results: John Cena pins Randy Orton to earn another match with Brock Lesnar

Ready for John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar one more time?

There were plenty of rumors going around that WWE would close tonight's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view (PPV) at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas with the John Cena vs. Randy Orton Hell in a Cell match for the right to challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE world heavyweight championship at a later date.

Those rumors were wrong.

Instead, they were put smack dab in the center of the card and given plenty of time to work. But while they did their best to make it interesting, it wasn't a very good brawl, and there were hardly any memorable spots.

Orton had a legitimately surprising RKO OUTTA NOWHERE on one of Cena's patented shoulder blocks, but they largely failed to deliver anything of substance and, in fact, there were a couple cringe-worthy moments along the way. That included Cena lightly pushing Orton's back into the fence while Randy attempted to sell it like he was being ruthlessly beaten, and Cena loudly talking to Orton after a low blow leading to a pinfall attempt that WWE completely missed while showing a replay.

Even the production team were off their game.

They went the expected route and started spamming finishers followed by close kick outs to really push the "EPIC" narrative.

The finish was the lone big spot in the match, Cena putting Orton through a table off the ropes to get the pinfall.

That means we're headed for yet another Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena match.

Thoughts?
