WWE Hell in a Cell 2014 results: Dolph Ziggler sweeps Cesaro to retain Intercontinental title

That was an outstanding opener.

Tonight's WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view (PPV) at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas kicked off with Cesaro challenging Dolph Ziggler in a 2-out-of-3 Falls match for the Intercontinental championship, giving the two the chance to steal the show from the curtain jerker spot.

They may have done exactly that.

Ziggler earned the first fall on a roll up just after Cesaro had put him through the Giant Swing. Cesaro maintained control, however, and Dolph continued bumping all around for him, including an insane sleeper reversed into a suplex from the second rope.

They traded near falls on big spots, like the Fameasser, a European Uppercut, and a beautiful backbreaker, but ultimately Ziggler hit both the Superkick and the Zig Zag to get the second pinfall to win the match and retain the title.

Yes, folks, that's a clean sweep for Ziggler. He was booked as strong here as he has been in some time.
