AJ Styles returned to Ring of Honor (ROH) at the television taping that took place last night (Sat., Jan. 4, 2014) in Nashville in a highly anticipated showcase match against Roderick Strong. The two reportedly had a fine showing, going some 22 minutes before the finish.
And that's when it all went wrong.
AJ set up to hit his signature move, the Styles Clash, and Strong did everything right up until it was time to take the actual bump. When Styles dropped down, Strong, for whatever reason, tucked his head and ended up getting dropped on his neck.
A fan shot video on the spot and posted it to Instagram:
That looks awful.
According to a report from PW Insider, Strong lost feeling in one of his arms but after some treatment that changed and he regained full mobility shortly after. He's scheduled to meet with doctors in Florida on Monday as a follow up. After seeing the bump, let's hope that goes well and there isn't any damage beyond the initial issues.
Not exactly the best way to put a cap on Styles' return to ROH.
