There have been talks within WWE of building a physical Hall of Fame location dating back a few years now, all the way back to 2010 when officials in Orlando, Florida were drafting proposals on how to make it happen. Triple H would later say that creating such a thing takes time, effort, and a ton of money, but it's definitely something that will become a reality at some point.
Timing is everything.
With WWE's television rights deals all coming up at the same time, the company has packaged all its programming for one powerhouse punch that has potential suitors foaming at the mouth. NBCUniversal, who retains the rights for the time being and has an exclusive negotiating window until Feb. 1, is upping its pitch to include a physical Hall of Fame location at Universal Studios in Orlando, according to the New York Post.
NBCUniversal, looking to retain rights to WWE's popular "Smackdown" and "Raw" programs on its SyFy and USA channels, is thinking about creating a Hall of Fame for the entertainment company at its Universal Studios theme park in Orlando, The Post has learned. While no concrete offer has been made, NBCU brass, as they put together a final pitch to present to Vince McMahon's WWE, have talked about such a deal sweetener, sources said.
WWE has an entire warehouse full of memorabilia that just needs a location to put on display. A physical Hall of Fame fits the bill perfectly but the company has long been a stickler about how it wants to go about putting this together, namely that it doesn't just want a place where fans can go see a few cool items but rather "an experience" that will leave a lasting impression.
There are still a ton of details to work out but at least it's on the table.
You hopeful?
