Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- Rumors popped up last week that there was backstage heat on Dolph Ziggler for something he said in an interview during the week of SummerSlam last month. A lot of research has since been done by various people around the web but no one can pinpoint anything particularly inflammatory that Ziggler said in his numerous interviews that week. WWE brass has a history of being rather petty with what they perceive as negative, such as calling a championship title "a belt," so it's possible that to a normal, functioning human being, whatever Ziggler said doesn't seem that bad. Or it's possible that this is all part of Triple H's "new kayfabe,' where he is actively playing the internet rumor game, such as when it came up a few weeks ago that there was heat on the Shield only for them to be featured in the top storyline in the company shortly after. Only time will tell with this one.
- For the most part, this weekend's WWE house shows were a pretty standard affair. One interesting note was the proliferation of some NXT talent to the shows. Sami Zayn and Bo Dallas first appeared at the Friday night show in Montreal, QB, Canada, with Zayn defeating Antonio Cesaro and Dallas defeating Tyson Kidd. Zayn and Dallas then teamed up on to defeat the Real Americans on Saturday night in East Rutherford, NJ. That same night, at another show in Windsor, ON, Canada, Xavier Woods (formerly Consequences Creed in TNA) was defeated by Ryback.
- As we mentioned, Tyson Kidd made his return to the ring after suffering an ACL tear last at the Friday night show in Montreal, losing to NXT champion Bo Dallas. Kidd would then pick up a win over Drew McIntrye at the East Rutherford show on Saturday.
- It was announced over the weekend that Jeff Jarrett will be resurfacing next month in Japan for the Great Muta's Wrestle-1 promotion. Muta met with TNA officials in July to discuss a possible partnership between the two organizations.
