Roddy Piper, one of the most despised wrestlers of 1985 following his WrestleMania program opposite Hulk Hogan, enjoys his newfound fan appreciation on this date in WWF history.
That's because the "Rowdy" one, who survived a bully beatdown by Adrian Adonis the week before as part of the "Flower Shop vs. Piper's Pit" program, exacts revenge on his "Adorable" foe by crashing the set of The Flower Shop on September 6, 1986, handing him his official notice of cancellation.
Adonis reacts accordingly:
There was only room for one talk show in those parts and "Hotrod" returned to Piper's Pit shortly thereafter. The Flower Shop, not regrettably, was gone for good.
Their feud eventually ended at WrestleMania III, when Piper defeated Adonis (with the help of Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake) in a "hair vs. hair" match, which, not surprisingly, ended with Adonis having a bad hair day.
Any Cagesiders think a program like this would work today? Or it is too "80's?"
