Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • We're now less than two weeks away from the Night of Champions pay per view, and here is an updated card for the event of official and rumors matches:
    • Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Title (Official)
    • Rob Van Dam vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Title (Official)
    • Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman vs. CM Punk in a handicap elimination match (Official)
    • AJ Lee vs. Natalya vs. Brie Bella vs. Naomi in a fatal four way for the Divas Title (Official)
    • Big Show and Mark Henry vs. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns for the Tag Team Titles (Rumored - Depends on Henry's health, the Prime Time Players have also been rumored to be in the mix if they choose to change the match completely)
    • Dean Ambrose vs. ??? for the US Title (Dolph Ziggler has been rumored, but he may take Mark Henry's place in the above match if Henry can't go)

Look for some other non-title matches to be added to the card to round this one out as well. Miz will almost certainly be involved in one way or another, as will Damien Sandow most likely.

  • On Monday night's (Sept. 2) Raw, WWE officials called security to deal with a situation in the crowd involving fans dresses as Randy Savage, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, and Jake Roberts. WWE officials were upset that the fans were causing a scene and taking attention away from the Randy Orton/Cody Rhodes match that was taking place at that time. (I didn't see the show, does anyone know if this came through on TV?)
  • John Cena's recovery from triceps surgery is apparently going slower than expected, as he tweeted yesterday that the stitches will need to stay in his arm longer than initially thought, causing a delay with his physical therapy. WWE officials are said to expect Cena back sometime around Royal Rumble in January, which would be 5 months into his given 4-6 month recovery time. Cena himself has promised that the injury won't interfere with any WrestleMania 30 plans.
  • Shane McMahon has stepped down from his position as Vice President of "YOU On Demand," a Chinese company he had been working for. While this has obviously started speculation about him returning to WWE, it should be known that he is staying with the company as Principle Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board.

If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you'd like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Please remember, these are merely rumors. Try not to take them too seriously, just have fun with them.
