As expected, the business proposition Triple H and Stephanie McMahon had for the Rhodes family on tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw involved a match at this Sunday night's (Oct. 6, 2013) WWE Battleground pay-per-view (PPV) at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York, against The Shield. The tag team titles will not be on the line.
But some jobs will.
Indeed, as per the stipulation made by Triple H, if the Rhodes brothers, Cody and Dustin (Goldust) win they will be given jobs in WWE but if they lose, they will never be allowed to work for the company again ... even though the match itself means they are very clearly working for the company.
Never mind that part.
Here's how WWE.com explains the stipulations:
The Shield's Tag Team Championship gold will not be on the line, yet the stakes remain high. If the Rhodes brothers - who will have their WWE Hall of Fame father Dusty Rhodes in their corner - win, they will regain their spots on the WWE roster. If The Hounds of Justice prevail, not only will Cody Rhodes and Goldust never be rehired, but The American Dream will also lose his position at NXT, WWE's developmental system where the Rhodes patriarch helps train the Superstars of tomorrow.
Here's the updated Battleground match card and line-up:
- Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan (WWE championship)
- Alberto Del Rio vs. Rob Van Dam (World heavyweight championship)
- CM Punk vs. Ryback
- AJ Lee vs. Brie Bella (Diva's championship)
- Rhodes brothers vs. The Shield
- Dolph Ziggler vs. Damien Sandow
