Although absolutely zero planning went into the making of this bout, it's been made nonetheless: Dolph Ziggler will take on Damien Sandow in a singles match during the free pre-show that airs just before the WWE Battleground pay-per-view (PPV) this coming Sun., Oct. 6, 2013, at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York.
The match was announced on tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw.
Both Ziggler and Sandow, after brief pushes, have gone back to jobbing to anyone and everyone. In the case of Ziggler, he's one of the babyfaces opposing the evil corporation. In the case of Sandow, he's the world heavyweight championship Money in the Bank briefcase holder who can challenge for the belt whenever he chooses.
Speaking of that, Ziggler was the man who held that briefcase before Sandow, so maybe there is somewhat of a reason for this match, or at least an angle that can be worked into it over the next week before the match happens.
Either way, it's thrown together. Still, both can work their ass off and the match itself should be very good.
Here's the updated Battleground match card and line-up:
- Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan (WWE championship)
- Alberto Del Rio vs. Rob Van Dam (World heavyweight championship)
- CM Punk vs. Ryback
- AJ Lee vs. Brie Bella (Diva's championship)
- Dolph Ziggler vs. Damien Sandow
