The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Battleground event set to take place on Sun., Oct. 6, 2013, at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York. This will be the first time this particular event is taking place and if there's a theme, it remains unclear what exactly that entails.
We're only two weeks out from showtime and only two matches are now official for the show so far.
- Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan (WWE championship)
This was always the direction and will likely continue to be the direction for another month or even more. There have been rumors circulating, or at least there's been a mention of as much, that a discussion has taken place about making this an Iron Man match. If that's not the stipulation they add to it, that doesn't mean we won't get some sort of gimmick match.
- Alberto Del Rio vs. Rob Van Dam (World heavyweight championship)
A rematch here wasn't a given, as the world heavyweight title picture has left a lot to be desired, but the way they got here was rather genius, incorporating Van Dam and Del Rio into the main Triple H power trip storyline. He apparently set RVD up to be attacked by ADR after Van Dam assisted Bryan against The Shield on Raw this past Monday night. This one is also expected to get a stipulation.
That's the card so far, Cagesiders.
