It was confirmed on last night's episode of Main Event -- and since then by WWE.com -- that Daniel Bryan will get another crack at Randy Orton with the vacant WWE championship on the line in the main event of the Battleground pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Sun., Oct. 6, 2013, at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York.
Here's the kicker: There is talk, apparently, that it could be an Iron Man match.
Bryan Alvarez dropped this little nugget in the latest edition of the Figure Four Weekly Newsletter (subscription required but recommended):
Both Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton and Alberto Del Rio vs. Rob Van Dam will likely be gimmick matches at BattleGround. Some talk of Bryan vs. Orton being an Iron Man match.

The thought of Mr. All Go No Quit MAH BOY D-BRY participating in an Iron Man match in WWE is enough to make fans of great wrestling salivate, even if the prospect of it comes with the caveat that Orton, he of such questionable durability, would be the other half of the equation.
Still, it makes a great deal of sense to introduce an added stipulation like this to the second in a series of matches that could stretch all the way to Survivor Series. And if they want to get that much mileage out of it, straight singles affairs aren't the way to go.
Plus, the Iron Man gimmick allows for a plethora of booking opportunities to leave the door open to the next match, and the next one after that. It just makes too much sense to ignore.
Here's to hoping it's the direction WWE ultimately decides to go.
