Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • Early plans for next week's Raw include punishing the group of faces who came to the aid of Daniel Bryan to close out this past Monday's Raw. Exactly what that punishment will entail isn't currently known, but included in the group of wrestlers are some fairly big names like Rob Van Dam, Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, the Prime Time Players, the Usos, and Zack Ryder.
  • A rumor has been making the rounds that we may see a match between the Rhodes family (Dusty, Goldust, and Cody) against the Shield at Battleground next month. While it is entirely possible we get Cody and Goldust against the Shield in one way or another, the addition of Dusty is currently believed to have been a "meeting room only" idea that is unlikely to come to fruition. Dusty is 67 and WWE has been more cautious lately with aged wrestlers after the health scares of Jerry Lawler and Ric Flair.
  • The WWE title is expected to remain vacated until next month's Battleground pay per view. In order to continue advancing the storyline, Shawn Michaels is reportedly scheduled to appear on Raw within the next few weeks to play up the conflict between his best friend, WWE COO Triple H, and his former pupil, Daniel Bryan. Michaels appeared over the weekend at the Chiefs/Cowboys NFL game and has shaved his beard.
  • Quick TNA notes: AJ Style's contract extension reportedly runs through December of this year. Jeff Jarrett was backstage at last week's Impact taping and has been taking a more active role in directing the shows.
