If you bought tonight's (Sun., Sept. 15, 2013) WWE Night of Champions pay-per-view (PPV) that took place at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan, you were essentially promised that CM Punk would finally get his hands on Paul Heyman in their match, a 2-on-1 handicap elimination bout that also included Curtis Axel.
Well, that's exactly what happened.
Punk and Axel had themselves a decent little back and forth encounter before Mr. Perfect's baby boy tapped to the Anaconda Vise following a GTS. That left Heyman all by his lonesome.
"The Straight Edge Superstar" proceeded to use a kendo stick and some handcuffs to punish his former friend. But before he could finish the job, Ryback of all people came running down to make the save, in the form of driving Punk through a table that was set up in the corner of the ring and had long since been forgotten about.
"Big Hungry" proceeded to put Heyman on top of Punk so the referee could count to three. Heyman wins.
Ryback carried him out while Punk was tended to by WWE medical personnel. Well, that was their idea. He refused it before walking out to loud chants from the "Motor City" faithful
