WWE SummerSlam results: Alberto Del Rio submits Christian to retain world heavyweight title

After losing to him multiple times leading up to tonight's (Aug. 18, 2013) WWE "SummerSlam" pay-per-view in Los Angeles, Alberto Del Rio submitted Christian to retain his world heavyweight title.

The world heavyweight title was up for grabs in a singles encounter at tonight's (Sun., Aug. 18, 2013) WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, as Alberto Del Rio took on Christian, who finally got just one ... more ... match.

Del Rio came out all bruised up, reportedly due to a fight he got in alongside Drew McIntyre. There's more on that on the front page, if you want more details, or at least those that are available.

Going into this match, the feud between the two was incredibly underwhelming. The story, essentially, was that Christian had the leg up on Del Rio because he had defeated him in multiple singles matches leading up to it, though the title wasn't on the line in any of those bouts.

So, when they got here, he would have the edge.

The match itself, expected to be really good, was exactly that. The two went back-and-forth and the crowd was really hot for it, chanting "this is awesome" late. Christian hurt his arm at one point and Del Rio ultimately capitalized by locking in the Cross Armbreaker to get the tapout victory.

And STILL.
