Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- It is currently being said that WWE is building a "subtle presence" for Sting within the company, hoping to bring him for 2014. In addition to a possible match at WrestleMania, WWE is setting the stage with their toy and video game developers (Mattell and 2K Sports respectively) to get ready for Sting, and there would obviously be a DVD highlighting Sting's career if/when he signs with WWE. There is also talk of Sting being a candidate for the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014.
- The Shield has lost a bit of their luster lately, but they still figure into plans headed forward. Previous rumors suggested that WWE would like to have them cross paths with the Wyatt Family, and that could certainly still come to fruition. Another thing being discussed is a possible feud down the line between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, possibly over the latter's U.S. Title.
- WWE's developmental talent officially reported to their new training center in Florida yesterday. (The grand opening for the center will take place on Wednesday, July 10.) The long rumored mass of NXT cuts never materialized, with the belief being that WWE will see what they have in the newcomers before making decisions on their previous talent.
- In some random TNA updates, the late payments being received by many TNA employees were in some cases 4-6 weeks behind. TNA is claiming that they were never that far behind, but did admit to some issues in that regard caused by their parent company, Panda Energy. Additionally, the TNA Television Title, last held by Abyss, has been officially retired. This is on the heels of TNA retiring the Knockout's Tag Team titles just a few weeks ago. The belief is that the company can reintroduce the titles if needed.
