Slapstick Saturday: UK fans stick it to Chris Jeri-glow

Welcome to another edition of "Slapstick Saturday," Cagesiders, where your old pal Hulk Holland pokes fun at every botch, blooper and bomb the world of professional wrestling has ever given us.

Looks like Chris Jericho forgot the first rule of a live audience.

You can win the crowd, but you can't win against the crowd. You know, that whole "mob mentality" thing. A painful lesson learned during a WWE house show at the O2 Arena in London, England, back on Nov. 11, 2009.

"The Ayatollah of Rock 'N Rolla," playing up his role as a heel, took a few liberties with the UK crowd across the pond, poking fun at their accents, as well as their dental hygiene. Because as we all know from the Austin Powers franchise, Brits have bad teeth.

That was hitting below the belt.

So the crowd hit back. Jericho took a glow stick to the face and quickly became unglued, daring the live audience to go ahead and try it again. Well, several hundred glow sticks later and Y2J found out he's the best in the world at what he does.

Which apparently, is getting pelted with glow sticks.

Ouch.

It's not often a face does a run-in to save a heel, but in this case, John Cena was needed to bail Jericho out of trouble. My only question is, what the hell took so long? Maybe the boys in the truck were too busy laughing to hit the music button.

Willie Hutch said it best:

Everybody knows that you need the glow,
You need the glow, the glow to grow.

And if you love to live, you live the life the way you love,
The love you take the gift.

Cuz when you got the glow, you see it on your face,
You feel it in your head, people understand,

That you've got the glow, and they're beware,
Cuz the power's there when you got the glow.

Shine on!
