On this date in WWF history: The Rock vs. Triple H in a steel cage match on Raw

Oh what a difference 14 years makes. Let's take a trip back to an episode of "Monday Night Raw" back in 1999 on this date in history and watch The Rock vs. Triple H in a steel cage match.

It's always interesting to look back on what used to be, which is the entire reason for running this column every day. But it's interesting on days like this simply because it's so abundantly clear how far we've come in the past 14 years.

Today, The Rock is a big time movie star who only wrestles when he wants to. Triple H, meanwhile, is a high ranking executive within WWE who also only wrestles when he wants to.

But back on this date in WWF history (July 5, 1999), the two were meeting in a steel cage match on Monday Night Raw in front of a hot crowd smack dab in the middle of the Attitude Era. To showcase how loaded the company was at the time, these two, close to their prime, were the number two program in the promotion.

Number one was Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Undertaker.

Anyway, watch them do work in a steel cage on Raw:
