After a concussion suffered at the clumsy feet of Jack Swagger derailed his world heavyweight title run, Dolph Ziggler returned to feud with the man who took the belt from him, Alberto Del Rio. The two had their rematch from Payback at tonight's (Sun., July 14, 2013) Money in the Bank pay-per-view (PPV) at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The last time these two met, they had one hell of a match, one that was greatly assisted by the double turn executed within it. Since then, however, Del Rio has largely disappointed as a heel champion -- he's also floundered without his manager, Ricardo Rodriguez -- while fans have yet to figure out whether or not they can accept Ziggler as a babyface chasing the title.
Still, the work has been good and that was no different in this one.
The two went back-and-forth until late when AJ Lee came out to skip around the ring, distracting her boyfriend Dolph. This gave Del Rio the opening he needed to take control but ultimately, Ziggler would put himself in a position to win until Lee climbed in the ring and hit "ADR" in the head with the Diva's championship in plain view of the referee.
Naturally, this caused a disqualification and Ziggler, like he always seems to do, came up short again.
