The Intercontinental title was on the line during tonight's (Sun., July 14, 2013) Money in the Bank pay-per-view (PPV) at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as Curtis Axel put his strap up for grabs in a singles encounter with the man he's been feuding with for a few weeks now, The Miz.
The match had the unfortunate disadvantage of poor timing, seeing as it had to follow The Shield's victory over The Usos and the world heavyweight title Money in the Bank ladder match, both fantastic affairs.
Predictably enough, it failed to live up to either.
That's not to say it wasn't any good. In fact, they did about as well as they could, all things considered, and Axel retained his title with his neckbreaker finish to pick up the pinfall victory.
