Bryan a favorite to win Money in the Bank briefcase?

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • As you may have heard, it has already been announced that the decisive third match between Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan will occur on tonight's (June 24) Raw. Most expect Bryan to get the "clean" win over Orton that Bryan lost out on due to his injury last week. Additionally, it could be the time that we finally see the long-rumored Randy Orton heel turn. Orton has been pining for a heel turn for well over a year now, and previous rumors suggested that WWE would like to see Orton battle Sheamus at SummerSlam in August. A clean loss to "weak link" Daniel Bryan could very well be the catalyst for the turn.
  • Speaking of Bryan, more rumors are swirling that Bryan is the favorite to win the "red" WWE Title briefcase at July's Money in the Bank pay per view. Past rumors had Bryan lining up to take on John Cena directly for the WWE title at that event, but Mark Henry's big swerve has injected him into that match instead. If Bryan does win the red briefcase, don't expect him to keep it for long, as it is still believed a match between Bryan and Cena will happen at SummerSlam for the WWE title one way or another.
  • Dolph Ziggler worked a house show this weekend as a face, answering an open challenge by Antonio Cesaro and Zeb Coulter. Ziggler won after clotheslining Cesaro out of the ring. Ziggler was still joined by Big E Langston and AJ Lee. While nothing at house shows is taken as "canon," it does look like a face turn may be on for the group.
  • Alexandra Hart, 25 year old daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart, appears to be in line to sign a developmental deal with WWE. Hart has tweeted several times recently about getting into ring shape and talking with WWE officials.
