On this date in WWF history: Razor Ramon vs 1-2-3 Kid in a $10,000 match

Razor Ramon and the 1-2-3 Kid had a $10,000 match on Raw on this date in WWF history.

Most pro wrestling fans today know Sean Waltman as "X-Pac," the super skinny, frizzy haired member of D-Generation X who had a lot of drug problems and made a particularly offensive sex tape with Chyna. But he wasn't always that way.

Indeed, he used to be a young kid coming up in the game just trying to realize his dream.

He had a damn good in route. Waltman was a member of the backstage political powerhouse "The Kliq," which also consisted of Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H. On top of their collective influence backstage, they were obviously harder workers once they were in the ring together.

As it were, Hall was the guy who put Waltman over when he signed with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1993. Waltman started as a jobber who went by the name The Lightning Kid. But then he pulled off a major upset against Hall on an episode of Monday Night Raw and was quickly re-dubbed the 1-2-3 Kid before proceeding to feud with Hall over the next few months.

Wanting revenge for his embarrassing loss, Hall started offering the Kid money to get him to agree to it. First, he offered $7,500, which led to a laughable promo from a very green Waltman turning him down because "my family is the most important thing to me." Not wanting to go away so easy, Hall upped the number to $10,000, which prompted the Kid to accept on a phone call that aired on Raw.

The ensuing match would take place the week after on this date in WWF history (June 21, 1993).

Hall brought a comically over-sized bag to the ring with him that was filled with the cheese. The match was short but solid, save for a horrific botch that saw Kid slip off the top rope and crash to the outside floor on exposed concrete. Not long after, he came in with another flip off the top rope that got a two count but instead of continuing the match, Kid just grabbed the bag of cash and ran out of the arena into a waiting car and drove away before Hall could catch up to him.
