According to Paul Heyman, former WWE Champion CM Punk is going to make his return to the squared circle at this Sunday's (June 16, 2013) Payback pay-per-view (PPV) event at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.
With that in mind, we'll dedicate this week's Slapstick Saturday to the man himself.
One of Punk's funniest moments over the past few years was his deconstruction of Kevin Nash, who hobbled back to the WWE ring to tie up some loose ends with his old clique comrade Triple H. There was some goofy storyline about John Laurinaitis and phantom text messages, but the only text message I was interested in was the one from Punk's sister.
OMG Kevin Nash WTF -- thought he was dead -- LOL
Good stuff.
It was a way of making light of Nash's inability to stay healthy in the latter part of his career, as well as the dark and oft-referenced history of wrestlers dying young. While the artist formerly known as "Diesel" was alive and well, he certainly fit the part of aging talent looking to get one last pop.
He got one, but probably for the wrong reason.
If anything, this clip makes me miss Punk, even face Punk, despite his most recent run as a heel, which may have been his best yet.
It will be interesting to see what happens at Payback.
